One of Jakarta's greatest comfort and go-to food must be mie ayam. Not only is it very much easy to find, but it is also quick and simple to eat. This hearty and filling meal is very hard to get it wrong. However, that might not be the case for vegans since many mie ayam is not always vegan friendly. That's why Merry Mie creates mie ayam made from plants.
Offer both vegan and vegetarian options; we got ourselves their vegan options, Mie Ayam Vegan, Mie Ayam Rendang Vegan, and Paket Sate Ayam Vegan. Their Mie Ayam Vegan was very pleasant since the noodles were already packed with flavor. Although the plant-based meat has a strong soy aftertaste, it is still very much so flavorsome when it is eaten with the soup.
Their signature Mie Ayam Rendang Vegan is our favorite one yet. Since the plant-based meat already has rendang spices which help the whole dish fits together. As for the Sate Ayam Vegan, they made the satay out of soy protein with a delicious sweet-charred flavor, just like any ordinary chicken satay. Although there wasn't any sauce in it, making it quite dry.
When it comes to the price, it is big enough for one person to fill up exceedingly Mie Ayam Vegan and Mie Ayam Rendang. However, the Sate Ayam Vegan was pretty expensive, especially for one portion with five satays, priced at Rp72.000. Even though the 'meat' size is relatively larger than the regular chicken satay.
