Big year for the startup food tech Green Rebel, another achievement after successfully collaborating and launching plant-based meat with big food chains in Indonesia. Adding one more to the list, Green Rebel has partnered up with Domino’s Indonesia to launch the chain’s first meatless pizza nationwide. The “Plantt Pro” series comes with two pizza variants of Asian-flavoured and is available at 162 outlets of Domino’s Pizza across Indonesia.
“Diet change is essential. People will make the shift as long as there is a flavorful, convenient, and wide range of options. Partnering up with QSRs who have big influence like Domino’s brings us one step closer to our mission to democratize plant-based food in Asia” said Max Mandias, co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer of Green Rebel Foods.
With the growing vegetarian and flexitarian market in Indonesia, consumers are seeing more plant-based options across the country both in local brands as well as QSRs. This innovation offers them options while also creating an alternative for meat lovers to try meat-less pizza toppings while still having the same experience as animal-based meat.
Offering 2 meat-less options, both of the new menus come with Indonesian flavours for their “Plantt Pro” series. Plant Pro Jerky Beef Blackpepper made from Green Rebel’s beefless shreds paired with Domino’s signature black pepper sauce and Plantt Pro Beef Rendang Special which is made from Green Rebel’s beefless shreds with rendang sauce. Unfortunately, both of the menus still contain dairy cheese, however, customers could opt-out per request. And it is still not suitable for vegans as their dough contains milk.
The beefless shreds are made using Green Rebel’s proprietary process of shitake mushroom and “Rebel Max” emulsion technology to create a fibrous meat texture. With Domino’s Pizza joining the bandwagon, it is expected to introduce the “new meat” options to the common market in hopes to attract consumers that haven’t tried meatless pizza to be more aware of these plant-based options.
